Out of date medication will be sent home. At the end of the academic year all medication will be sent home.

Y13 Study Leave will end on Friday 18th January and all lessons will commence on Monday 21st January. Students should attend all lessons. For those students who have applied for study leave, parents should have received an e-mail outlining the conditions of this. If you haven’t received this, please e-mail Mrs Wiles at [email protected]. Results of the trial exams will be shared with students on Wednesday 6th February and reports will be published to parents on Friday 8th February.
The deadline for applications to University through UCAS was Tuesday 15th January. Universities can still accept applications after this date, however, they do not have to. If your son/daughter has changed their mind and would like to apply, please advise them to contact the university directly to ascertain whether they still have places available. They can then apply through UCAS using the instructions that have been e-mailed to them.
Details forwarded from East Midlands Airport
East Midlands Airport will once again be hosting their ‘Big Job Fair’ on Saturday 26th January, from 10 am until 2 pm.
For more information visit https://www.eastmidlandsairport.com/jobs-fair/
The Job Fair will take place in the Check-in Hall at the Airport Passenger Terminal Building.
With approximately 8,000 staff on site across 80 businesses, East Midlands Airport is a great place to expand your skills and develop - either with us or with one of our partner businesses.
More than 350 jobs are up for grabs with a number of different companies based at the airport. The vacant positions will be focussed around passenger services, concentrated on serving passengers flying in and out of East Midlands Airport, including airlines, check-in agents, shops, bars, restaurants, hotels and the airport itself. Representatives from the airport, as well airport partner companies will be at the fair and to talk to job-seekers about the various opportunities on offer.
Many roles on offer – some of which are seasonal - include customer-facing roles with the airport itself within passenger services, security, car parking and our Escape Lounge. Jet2.com and Swissport will be looking for ground handling staff including check-in and baggage handling. There will also be opportunities to work in retail including World Duty Free, as well as within food and beverage (Autogrill and Frankie and Bennys)
Two of our big international Cargo partners – UPS and DHL - will also be in attendance at the job fair, recruiting for cargo handling roles for their growing businesses, as well as hotels including Jury’s Inn.
Entry to the job fair is free and there is also free car parking available for job-seekers (free car parking in Long Stay 2 only - please follow signs to the designated car park) with free courtesy buses to and from the Passenger Terminal.
Sixth Form dress is an important part of the school's image. As a public institution we need to project an image appropriate to the work we do and, as senior members of the school, the Sixth Form are an important part of that image. The respect that an institution earns from the public it serves is, in part, due to the appearance of its members. It is therefore in the students' own interests to adhere to acceptable standards of appearance because they will ultimately benefit by association with a respected establishment. In addition, it is important that the senior members of the school provide a positive role model for the lower school in terms of smart appropriate dress.
Whilst the majority of our students follow the dress code correctly, there are a small number of students who are not attending school with a blazer/suit jacket and are wearing skirts of an inappropriate length, made from lycra material. We appreciate your support in ensuring that ALL students adhere to the dress code. The following link to the dress code may be useful when students are selecting clothes to wear to school.
As per the school calendar, please be advised that the Year 12 Parents Evening will take place on Thursday 7th February. Appointments will be available from 4.30pm to 7.30pm. Students should now make appointments directly with staff . This is an important opportunity to discuss your son/daughter’s progress directly with the subject teacher and Mrs Spencer and Mrs Sharp will be available to see parents about general enquiries/concerns.
Students have been asked to see Mrs Spencer if they want to attend the Oxbridge Student Conference in Birmingham, on Tuesday March 19th . This conference is aimed at students who want to explore applying to either Oxford or Cambridge. The academic profile of a suitable student is usually a large number of A/A* grades at GCSE level and they should be predicted to achieve approximately A*A*A to AAA at A Level. The cost of transport to this event will be approximately between £15 to £20, depending on the number of students who wish to attend. Please ask your son/daughter if they have seen Mrs Spencer if they wish to attend.
What are the Oxford and Cambridge Student Conferences?
Designed as Open Days on the road, our conferences bring experienced admissions staff, subject specialists and current students from the universities of Oxford and Cambridge to you and your students at venues around the UK.
The events are aimed at Year 12 students (or equivalent) who are studying for their A Levels/IB (or equivalent) and are beginning to consider their options for study beyond sixth form. These full day events provide up to date information about our courses, clearly outline the admissions process and provide students with the opportunity to hear first-hand how our current undergraduate students find life at Oxford and Cambridge. Our aim is for students to leave having explored the breadth of subjects on offer to them, gained a deeper insight into what our courses involve and an understanding of how both universities assess applications.
