Each week we will be sharing the experiences of a Lower School Student whilst learning at home.
The first student is Nathaniel from Year 7.
Thank you for your contribution Nathaniel (and his Dad!)
Dear All,
I hope that you are all safe and well. I just thought that you might like to see some photos from my first week working from home.
Once we managed to get office 365 working on our home PC, I quickly started to enjoy the experience. I have setup routine for each day to start with the Joe Wick's PE lesson and then following the usual school timetable. I have even managed to get my Dad involved in the PE lessons!
I am using a checklist (as you can see in one of the photos) to ensure that I complete each task and stay organised and this is now stuck to the wall in our office.
I am also spending some time outside enjoying the nice weather, some of it doing my school work, some reading and some exercises and football practice in my breaks.
I have found the tasks to be varied and fun to complete. Also all of the teachers have been really quick to answer emails and it has been good to keep in touch.
Best regards,
Nathaniel

Calling all Y9 Geographers... You have been studying Tropical Rainforest environments for a few lessons now, so we are challenging you to create a Rainforest in a BOX! See attached images for some inspiration. Can you find materials lying around your home or in your garden to show the layers of the rainforest? Will there be any rainforest animals roaming around? Can you include any specific plant and animal adaptations? Anything related to the climate or soil profile? We look forward to seeing your masterpieces after Easter! Please note that this homework is optional, as we do not want students and parents to feel that they have to purchase any materials for this piece of work during this period of lockdown.
Can’t go outside and do an Easter Egg Hunt? Have a go at this Easter Egg hunt to test your knowledge of the countries around the World. Be careful, the answers are on page 2!
Miss Starkie
Task:
Using your garden for inspiration take a photo a day of either:
- All the different examples of wildlife you can find – plants, animals, insects.
or
- Pick a flower that is growing and chart it’s growth over the 2 weeks by taking a photo from the same position and angle each day
Happy Snapping!
For all the Young Samurai fans out there, writer Chris Bradford is holding a virtual author visit on Friday 10th April at 10am. Chris is an extremely entertaining speaker and a trained Samurai warrior, so it's well worth tuning in to watch his performance.
