Our new School Uniform and PE Kit will launch in September 2021 for all Year 7 students, and all other students in Lower and Upper School from September 2022.
The Policy and Guidance for the new uniform is available on the school website, www.jths.co.uk on the following link:
We would encourage parents looking to buy new uniform this year, across all year groups, to purchase the new uniform and PE kit to prevent needing to repurchase for next September. During the transition period between September 2021 to September 2022, the school will accept the correct uniform pieces across both the current and new uniform guidance and policy.
As we move towards the summer break, please can parents be mindful of the Uniform Policy and Guidance and support students to be school ready in September by ensuring:
Hair
Any wash in/out hair colours are removed and hair is a natural colour. No extreme hair cuts, including undercuts, tramlines and cuts under grade 1.
Make Up
No make up should be worn in Lower School, with natural make up permitted in Upper School. Nail extensions and varnish are not permitted.
Items of Uniform - Year 8,9,10,11
If students are continuing to wear items of the current Uniform Policy and Guidance during the transition period, they must continue to meet expectations throughout the year.
Please refer to the Uniform Policy and Guidance before purchasing any uniform. If you are unsure if an item would meet the guidance, please contact the school before buying and we will be happy to advise.
The current and new Uniform Policy and Guidance are available on the school website:

- There will be a second hand school uniform sale on Sunday 10th July (11am-2pm) and Monday 11th July (3pm-6pm) at 15 Park Rd, Barton. If anyone has any uniform to donate, please email [email protected].
- Due to the pandemic the PTA haven't been able to raise the usual level of funds and we don't how long it'll be until we can resume our fundraising events. We have therefore been unable to support the school with the extras that we normally would. Please help support the PTA by entering the 50/50 club, where 50% of the profits go towards prizes & 50% to PTA, and if you able to please send donations via Parentpay.
- For the PTA to continue, we need to recruit a new Chairperson at our September meeting. For more information regarding the role, please contact Emma at [email protected].
Please find attached a pdf signposting available children's mental health support services in Staffordshire.
Please find attached an information leaflet to help your child stay safe this summer.
John Taylor Sporting Young Ambassadors have delivered their final bag of goodies to the local residents in Palmers Close, and also to thirty two other people via the Barton under Needwood volunteer group, co-ordinated by ex John Taylor member of staff Sue Palmer.
Thanks once more go to
- Morrisons in Burton who donated bags, chocolate and biscuits
- Mrs Forden's Year 8 Art classes for making lovely pieces of art work
- many of the Year 8 and 9 Sporting Ambassadors for painting happy stones, writing letters, creating a termly sports report, a PE wordsearch and a tick box sheet for people to tick off when they are out on a walk.
On Tuesday 29th June, Tilly, Ruby, Nathaniel and Johnny delivered the bags and spoke to some of the residents in Palmers Close who were delighted to receive their goodies from the Young Ambassadors. After doing this they left a large donation of bags at the front of school which were then picked up by Mrs Palmer to deliver throughout Barton to her clients.
Here are just a few of the messages I received from Mrs Palmer from her clients,
"I was thrilled to to receive my bag of goodies, it was like Christmas!"
"I have just had one of my neighbours on the phone and had a full run down on the contents in the bag."
"The artwork is just stunning!"
Thank you to Mrs Forden, Mrs Oakley, Mrs Foster, Mrs Joseph and members of the PE Department who helped to coordinate and box all the items to go out to over sixty residents in Barton Under Needwood.
We very much hope that our next community activity in November will be in the school hall, where an afternoon tea and entertainment will be held for the residents of Barton and they will be able to meet and talk to the sporting young ambassadors in person.

Dear Parent/Carer,
As we move into the last few weeks before the summer break, we would like to try and get together another Food Bank collection to deliver at the end of term. We are encouraging students to bring some items in, but ultimately, we know this will likely come down to you. So, if you are willing to donate any items it would be greatly appreciated! Some items that are key to a food parcel are rice, pasta, cereal (own brand can be under £1), tinned fruit, biscuits, soup, pasta sauce and any long-life items. I know that any donations are greatly appreciated! These can be handed in to their form tutors. Thank you in advance with this. As a school we have been overwhelmed with the general generosity of spirit, kindness and support the students have shown each other and the wider school community, particularly in the difficult circumstances that we have endured. I could not be prouder of them.
Miss Sears
Year 7 were treated to a entertaining virtual visit from local author Ben Davis. As a former stand up comedian Ben engaged our students with tales of his funny escapades which form the basis of some of the stories in his books. After reading extracts from a few of his books, he answered questions sent to him by our Y7s students who had completed some research on Ben during their lessons in the LRC.

Following on from the success of our JTMAT wide World Book Day celebrations, our KS3 students have been competing to represent JTHS at the JTMATlovesreading Book Mastermind Final on Monday 12 July.
Congratulations and good luck to Henry in Year 8 who will be representing us at the Book Mastermind Final, with his specialist book "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets".

Students will this week be receiving an email detailing how to order a yearbook should they wish to do so. The process will be similar to that used previously for the hoodies, and so I must draw your attention to the time/date the e-shop will close (which will be included in the email). Any orders made beyond this date will not be processed.
Thank you to all students who submitted photos, unfortunately it has not been possible to include all of them as this would have resulted in the Yearbook being too expensive.
Mr Forden.
