As previously communicated, students will be having a phased return to school in January. Individual letters have been sent home with the exact details of days and times for the testing and full return to school. Whilst students are at home prior to their return, work will be set via Go4Schools and lessons may contain live aspects, delivered by the teacher. This will require students to be able to access both Go4Schools and MS Teams via their MS Office 365 account. Whilst we would hope that all students know how to do this, the links below will take you to support guides with the required information to help in these procedures. The 'Student guide to IT at JTHS' can also be accessed under the 'useful links' menu on the school website.
Families who experience difficulty with IT access or equipment should contact their respective school office. This includes where access to a computer or laptop is an issue.
Please use the link below to access a free Online Safety Newsletter from Alan Mackenzie, an Independent Online Safety Advisor.

Please find attached some festive information for parents and carers about online safety and mental well-being over Christmas. It includes guidance on security settings, social media apps, online gaming, removing images from the internet etc as well as sources of support and helplines for issues such as domestic abuse and mental health.
Should any students require sanitary products for over the remainder of this term or for over the seasonal break, they are welcome to collect some from the First Aid room.
Students are welcome to collect any supplies needed from the first aid room any day after school between 3.40pm and 4pm or on Friday 17th Dec at 12.30pm.
Parents may wish to ensure that a suitable bag is available for them to be carried home.
During the darker evenings, many sports fixtures are taking place during the school day. We are unable to allow parents onto the school site during the day due to our safeguarding requirements, and so you will not be able to watch during these fixtures. Once they start to take place after the students have left the site, you will be allowed onsite after 4pm to watch. This is usually after February half term. Thank you for your understanding.
From Monday 10th January, we will be introducing a loan scheme for lunchtime football. We have purchased a number of footballs that can be loaned from the Lower School Office (Y7-Y9) and Upper School Office (Y10 & Y11). No other footballs will be permitted on school site.
Expectations for Loans
Students who wish to loan a ball will be responsible for enusring the loaned football is returned.
Returns must be made 5 minutes before the end of lunchtime (12:55 for Lower School and 13:55 for Upper School).
Students who wish to loan a ball must leave a deposit in the relevant school office. The deposit will be returned once the football is brought back to the relevant office.
Lost, damaged or vandalised balls will incur a cost to replace the football stock in each office (£5). The cost of the football is is £6.50, no profit is being made from this.
Students will not be permitted to play football at break time or during bus queues.
The area designated for football is the Tennis Courts, closest to the Hall and Gym. The far side is reserved for PE lessons during lunchtimes.
As parents, we thank you for your support with this initiative to ensure students can safely play football in school, as well as encouraging students to take responsibility for school items and demonstrate respect for our equipment and environment.
Year 7 have engaged brilliantly with Accelerated Reader since joining us in September. We have a very keen group of readers amongst the year group and they have been reading and quizzing in large numbers. 27 of our Year 7 students are already word millionaires. We have six students who are double word millionaires, one triple word millionaire and one quadruple word millionaire. It's looking highly likely that this year group will beat our current school records of 50 word millionaires and a personal best word count of 7.2 million words. Fantastic achievement Year 7, keep up the brilliant reading habit.

On Thursday 9th December our Year 8 Football team travelled to St George's Park to play Paulet school in the District Cup final. The team had played extremely impressively so far this season, scoring a total of 41 goals and conceding 3.
The first half of the match saw possession dominated by JT and lots of chances created. The boys played well as a team, supporting each other and playing some fantastic football. Unfortunately, we were unable to take any of these chances, with Josh C hitting the crossbar with a thunderbolt shot and their keeper denying Ollie P. The half finished 0-0.
After a quiet inspirational half time team talk from Mr Blanchenot, the boys entered the second half with even more determination to win. This was just as well as Paulet did the same and had their best spell of the match in the first period of the half. JT managed to settle down, well organised and encouraged by captain Oli F, and once again dominated possession and started to create chances. Some of the passing and movement from midfield, especially Archie S, Charlie S and Dylan C was excellent, and one such combination released Joe B on the right wing. He ran away from the defence and smashed in the opening goal to settle our nerves. The whole team ran to the corner to join in Joe's Ronaldo celebration. Not wise considering how far they had to run back!
Both teams continued to work hard with more of the chances being created by JT. Oli F clipped in a free kick half way through the half which was deflected past the impressive Paulet keeper to make it 2-0. Definitely Oli's goal - it was on target! Cue further Ronaldo celebrations and a delayed re-start! The game ended 2-0 to JT. Fully deserved victory enjoyed by an impressive number of supporters.
A special mention should go to Paulet for being such a strong opposition and playing the match in a great spirit. Their attitude at the final whistle was a credit to them and I am sure they will return even stronger next year!
Well done to all of the squad. The most impressive thing about the group is their positive attitude and sportsmanship; they always play the game in the correct spirit. This is closely followed by the fact that they are very talented footballers who play incredibly well as a team! A pleasure to coach.
A wonderful group of Y9 students participated in completing their Mentor Training Last week. After Christmas the new mentors will be supporting some of our Y7 students with their work.
Well done to you all for completing this training.
