Year 8 have been busy for some time, fundraising for the Burton upon Trent district branch of the RSPCA. This is the charity, as a year group they chose to support and they have been busy as form groups and individuals to raise as much money as they can, from haircuts to selling sweets! The total raised by Year 8 is a whopping £1800!
On Wednesday 3rd May, Amanda Lovett and Jo from Hillfield Animal home - RSPCA Burton upon Trent district branch visited the school and delivered an assembly to all Year 8 students. The students kindness, perserverance and fundraising has meant that the charity has paid for a new engraving machine at the Hillfield Animal home - enabling all dogs who come into the home to be tagged. It enables the Animal home to create tags for dogs owned by members of the public. This not only reunites many lost dogs with their owners but also creates a valuable income stream for the RSPCA, that enables them to continue their good work.
A huge well done to Year 8 students, Mr Markwell (Head of Year) and the Year 8 tutor team #kindness #perserverance #personalexcellence
