The following students celebrated their achievements with Mr Blanchenot this week, congratulations to them all!
Alfie | 7O | |
Zoe | 10R | |
Poppy | 8H | |
Emily | 8R | |
Faith | 8o |
Today Mr Blanchenot had the pleasure of spending break time with four deserving star students who have been nominated for demonstrating our school’s core values; Perseverance, Integrity, Respect and Kindness.
Firstly Alfie (Y7) who had been nominated by Mrs Brooks, told the group how he’d prepared and delivered a presentation to his form about daily challenges that he faces. Alfie showed braveness and confidence when presenting to his peers, so much so, he has been asked to deliver his presentation to forms across the entire Year 7 cohort. Mrs Brooks said that ‘Alfie deserves to be recognised for showing resilience and integrity each and every day. Well done Alfie.’
Next to share their story was Zoe (Y10), who explained to the group how she’d spent 80 hours training at her Sailing Club to be able to teach younger children. Zoe spoke passionately about her love for sailing which has she done for a number of years! Mrs Drage nominated Zoe and thought that she was very deserving of Hot Chocolate with the Head. There’s no denying that Zoe has shown a high-level of dedication outside of her studies at school and great perseverance. We wish you all the success with sailing in the future Zoe!
Lastly, Emily and Poppy (Y8) explained to Mr Blanchenot that they had volunteered to deliver 50 letters to the local community, to inform them of an upcoming event at the school which could cause additional traffic. The local residents were extremely thankful that had been notified about the event and grateful that the pupils had taken time to write to them. Mrs Berry who nominated the pupils said, ‘Emily, Poppy and Faith had shown dedication to the school and kindness in abundance to our local residents. It is important to us as a school that we maintain a great relationship with our local residents and a simple letter can make all the difference.’ Thank you to Poppy, Emily and Faith for your time!
Mr Blanchenot said he was really proud of all the students at Hot Chocolate with the Head today. Whilst we embed our core values within our culture and hope that they are displaying these daily, Alfie, Zoe, Poppy, Emily and Faith have taken them to the next level and deserve to be recognised. Well done to you all!
Please see the flyer below for details of the John Taylor MAT Exceptional Achievement Award. The deadline for nominations for this term's awards is Friday 29th November.
Thank to all our students & staff who donated to World Mental Health Day today. Students were allowed to wear a yellow item of clothing to raise awareness for such an important day which impacts many.
Well done to all our students for displaying our core value of kindness, we will counting the donations today which will be donated to Young Minds.
Mrs Findon’s form, 7Y, wanted to share some of the things they've enjoyed since being at secondary school. Whilst there are many great things about the school, Felicity, Dexter & Oscar thought that the area that stood out most to them was the Learning Resource Centre.
The group were in agreement that the various genres, amount of book selections and the stationery available were the best bits about the LRC! The group also have thoroughly enjoyed getting involved in extra-curricular clubs that the library put on and look forward to the upcoming events too, such as; Harry Potter Night, Christmas Quiz, Banned Books Day and Poetry Day.
Here's what they had to say:
Felicity: I love the library as it has so many booked and clubs. I go to Book Club every Thursday where we do lots of games and activities. I am so excited for the upcoming Harry Potter night too.
Dexter: I love the library and all the wonderful things in it. I always hangout in the library at lunch times and at the start of the day with my friends.
Oscar: I love the library and go there at break time. I love that we are allowed to have access to the computers and discover useful websites. I can also check what lessons I have and look at any homework too.
Thank you all for sharing your experience of your first term at JTHS. We hope your passion for reading continues!
Please have your entries in by October 24th 2024.

Early Closure for Open Evening: Thursday 24th October - School will close at 12:30pm to all pupils.
We are holding our Open Evening for parents of Year 6 children on Thursday 24th October – 6.00 pm-9.00 pm.
The school will close at 12.30 pm in order to provide time for staff to prepare rooms, displays and experiments. Bus companies have been notified and buses will be departing from school shortly after 12.30 pm.
Students travelling on the number 12 to Lichfield will need to catch the bus at 1:28 pm from Barton. We will provide supervision in L1A for these students until 1:15 pm unless parents are happy for their children to wait in the village or are being pick-up.
The canteen will not be open at lunchtime but will have a wider selection at breaktime for the students to purchase food. We will be extending break by 10 minutes to facilitate this on Thursday.
If your son or daughter has volunteered to help out on this evening, please ensure she/he has returned the appropriate permission slip (supplied by the teacher) and attends the evening in full school uniform. They should check with the teacher they are helping what times they are needed for; however, they can be collected from the front car park around 8:30 pm.
During the Open Evening, there will be a variety of charity events taking place where our visitors and students will be able to purchase a small selection of refreshments. These will be cash purchases only.
Friday 25th October is an INSET day.
The half term break is Monday, 28th October – Friday, 1st November
With best wishes
