It is our aim that all students joining our school community feel confident about the many changes and new routines they will experience. We want to reassure you that we are keen to make the transition process as smooth as possible to ensure that the students feel safe, welcome, and supported.
Transition activities commence following the admission process and successfully securing a place at John Taylor High School.
It is our aim that by the time each of our Y6 pupils starts in September, they will feel fully prepared and excited about starting at John Taylor High School. There are numerous activities planned for the students and for parents.
MAY/JUNE 2024Head of Year 7 visits partner primary schools to talk to Y6 pupils and answer questions. They will also collect information from Y6 teachers. The SENDCo (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) may also attend. Information from non- partner primary schools will be requested. |
INDUCTION DAYS1st, 2nd & 3rd July 2024 All pupils are invited to attend one day of preparation to get to know the school, staff and their tutor and teaching group. |
PARENT RECEPTION EVENING4th July 2024 An opportunity for parents/carers to reflect on the Induction Days, meet with key Lower School staff and ask last minute questions. |
FIRST DAYWednesday 4th September 2024 |
The transition process goes on beyond the start of the new school year, with Year 7 events such as Bonding Day and the Service of Welcome planned within the first half term. Also, parents/carers have the opportunity to meet with form tutors early on in the academic year. All transition and beyond activities are designed to ensure the students, parent/carers feel part of the John Taylor High School community.
